Clean Kerala Company Limited plays a crucial role in collecting non-biodegradable waste from various local self-government institutions across Kerala. Their primary goal is to ensure the efficient and comprehensive management of such waste, thereby contributing to the state's overall hygiene.
As part of this initiative, CKCL segregates the collected non-biodegradable materials, recycling the recyclable portion through authorized agencies. The non-recyclable waste—including low-value plastics, discarded bags, footwear, and cloth waste—amounting to approximately 5,000 tonnes per month, is sent for co-processing in cement kilns, in accordance with government regulations.
These operations are carried out across all 14 districts. To enhance efficiency, there are plans to develop software for accurately monitoring the collection, storage, and marketing of non-biodegradable materials at material collection facilities within local government institutions.
